The holiday farm Calarighe, the Sardinian name for hawthorn, is located in the northern inland part of Sardinia between the towns of Romana and Monteleone Roccadoria, near Alghero and Sassari. A river runs through the ranch and there are points of archaeological interest. Sheep, goats and kids, donkeys, pigs, ducks, and chickens are all raised on the grounds of over 100 hectares. Homemade mild and strong cheese, as well as ricotta, are produced with sheep and goat milk, while the pork is used to make delicious smoked cold meats. The animal fodder, vegetables, fruits, and olive grove are organically farmed and the restaurant uses only home grown products. The farm is easy to reach as it is on the provincial road connecting the town of Romana to the Alghero-Villanova Monteleone, Pozzomaggiore state road.
