Soletta’s farm

Umberto Soletta, after several years spent in managing the family business, founded a craft cooperative wine cellar (1996), which aimed to transform, and give value to, the products of a land which has always been characterised by the tastiness of its fruits.
This project, thanks to the attentive control of the whole production line, enables a sensible quality improvement of the product, on the other hand, it ensures a refining of the service.
The particular effort in management and communication, causes the customer to be followed after the purchase, in order to know his/her satisfaction and keep it over the time.
The farm is in the rural area of Codrongianos municipality, in a Vermentino and Incrocio Manzoni cultivated land, which is close to the S.S. 131 (main road of the island), just 15 km from Sassari.
The grapes come from the family business vineyards, which extend in the lands of the Florinas and Codrongianos Municipalities. The grapes are grown with the old espalier method (the youngest) and by the “sapling method” (for the oldest).
The vineyards extend on a 15 hectares area and are located 400-500 metres above the sea level on hill grounds which comprise sand, clay and limestone. The plants density is not fixed, relating to the vines, and it usually ranges between 3,300 and 5,000 vines per hectare.
The white fruit berries are Vermentino, Incrocio Manzoni and Moscato.
The black grape berries are cannonau, Cagnulari, Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and some autochthonous.
The cellar is equipped with stainless steel cans, for fermentation at a controlled temperature for 880 hl, french barriques for 200 hl and other containers for 1900 hl. The marcs are conveyed to a selected disillery of the wine industry, to produce grappas of Vermentino, Cannonau and Muscat.
Beside the wine, we also produce an excellent extra-virgin olive oil.
